When Destination BC went through a massive re-branding process in 2015, there were skeptics. It was a shift from the traditional sunset and champagne tourism photography that dominated years prior. I was brought on to capture southern Vancouver Island, as articulated through a brand document that had an emphasis on less than perfect weather, authenticity, nature, and emotion.
The document perfectly detailed how to capture nature based places, but for the city the instruction went something like ‘we are excited to see what you make of it’. I’m proud to say some of the images of Victoria have appeared in subsequent revisions of the photography brand document to this day.
